For NCC Men, there are 70 vacancies in total, with 63 for the General Category and 7 reserved for Wards of Battle Casualties of Indian Army personnel. For NCC Women, there are 6 vacancies - 5 for the General Category and 1 for Wards of Battle Casualties. The Army carefully notifies vacancies based on operational and administrative needs, ensuring a fair and independent selection process for each category.

Training and Probation:
Selected candidates will undergo an intensive 49-week pre-commission training program at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai. Upon successful completion, officers will be placed on probation for six months. As a testament to the Army's commitment to education, all successful officer cadets will be awarded a prestigious Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies by the University of Madras.

Physical Standards:
Male candidates must demonstrate exceptional physical fitness by completing a 2.4 km run in 10 minutes 30 seconds, along with 30 push-ups, 40 pull-ups, 6 sit-ups, two sets of 30 squats, two sets of 10 lunges, and a 25-metre swim. Female candidates, on the other hand, must complete a 2.4 km run in 13 minutes, 15 push-ups, 2 pull-ups, 25 sit-ups, two sets of 30 squats, two sets of 10 lunges, and basic swimming skills.

Important Conditions:
Marriage is strictly prohibited during the training period. Any violation will lead to discharge and recovery of training costs. The Government bears the entire training cost, but candidates withdrawing for personal reasons will need to refund Rs 20,482 per week of training, as applicable in 2026. The final allocation of Arms and Services will be determined before passing out, based on merit and vacancy availability.
